Sweatshirts, Hoodies and other Fleece Wear Sweatshirts come in a couple of basic designs. The hooded pullover sweatshirt, a.k.a. hoodie [or hoody], have been around since the Great Depression of the 1930’s – especially on college and university campuses. Two basic variations on the hooded sweatshirt are the quarter-zip pullover sweatshirt and the full-zip sweat shirt. Crewneck sweatshirts – recognized by their collarless neckline – fit snugly at the base of the neck. With few exceptions, this sweatshirt design is a pullover – without front zipper. [These sweatshirts first came on the scene, we’ve heard, somewhere in the 1920’s.] Matching styles of sweatpants [or sweats] are available in several brands. Pigment dyed sweatshirts – a feature of this department – come in a large variety of beautiful colors, soft “earth tones” in many cases. Authentic Pigment is one popular brand, but there are other great sweatshirt brands too – Champion, Augusta, Lee to name a few. Available as hoodies and as crewneck sweat shirts.
